    QUICK FACTS

    Located:

    Paris, ON

    Established:

    2017 (farm) & 2023 (winery)

    Owned By:

    Delano & Kimmy Osmond

    Produces:

    Haskap Berries

    Season:

Their berries are in season fresh from the middle of June until the first week of July (weather dependent). They also sell frozen Haskap berries throughout the year.

    Growing Practices:

Blue Gables Acres grow clean with limited intervention on the land. Their Haskap berries are grown without the use of chemicals, and are frozen at peak freshness. They encourage birds to eat any pests on the bushes and cover the berries for protection against the Cedar Waxwing. Delano and Kimmy - along with their family and friends - have worked tirelessly to get the 5 acres of Haskap berries planted and manicured by hand to ensure an excellent quality of fruit. Blue Gables Acres is not an organic farm but they keep it as clean as possible by applying organic methods to ensure their plants are healthy. They encourage hummingbirds and nuthatches to eat the little pests, utilize mulch to keep down weeds so chemicals are not needed, and deploy canopy nets to protect the Haskap berries from the thieving waxwing birds - who would strip their fields within a few days!

    About:

Located in Paris, Ontario, Delano and Kimmy Osmond own and operate Blue Gables Acres - a farm and winery specializing in growing Haskap berries. For years Kimmy has been experimenting with foraging, preserving, and wine-making from local plants and fruit by bringing in her Metis heritage to learn more about Indigenous plants and their health benefits.

Their exploration into cultivating the Haskap berry has proven to be successful; the berries have a unique and wonderful flavour can be used both in sweet and savoury dishes.
