This spiced apple cider sage cocktail is a delicious and super easy seasonal cocktail to enjoy this holiday season! We love the flavour combination of apple and sage and this cocktail marries these two flavours brilliantly.
Made with our organic apple cider from Avalon Orchards, spiced rum, a sage simple syrup and garnished with fresh Honeycrisp apples from Norfolk, cranberries from Johnston's Cranberry Marsh and Mike & Mike's fresh sage, this cocktail is sure to be a hit this holiday season.
This recipe makes two cocktails.
Ingredients
For the Simple Syrup
- 1 cup sugar
- 1 cup water
- 4 Mike & Mike's sage leaves
For the Cocktail
- 2 oz spiced rum
- 1/2 oz sage simple syrup (instructions below)
- 4 oz Avalon Orchards apple cider
- 1/2 shot Village Juicery lemon juice
- 3 dashes Angostura bitters
For Garnish
- 2 tbsp cinnamon + 2 tbsp sugar (for rimming your glasses)
- Sprigs of sage, slice of Norfolk Honeycrisp apple for garnish, Johnston's cranberries for garnish
Method
Make Your Simple Syrup
Place your water, sugar and sage leaves in a pot over medium-high heat and bring to a boil. Once the pot has boiled, reduce the heat to medium-low and let simmer for 5 minutes. Remove from heat and let cool.
Make Your Cocktail
Add your spiced rum, simple syrup, apple cider, cinnamon and ice into a cocktail shaker and shake vigorously for 30 seconds to a minute.
Mix together your sugar and cinnamon. Using a lemon wedge, or wet paper towel, wipe rim of your glass to wet it so that the sugar and cinnamon mixture sticks. Pour the sugar and cinnamon mixture onto a plate and spin your glass in the mixture to rim each cocktail glass.
Add some ice to your rimmed glasses and strain your cocktail mixture into the rock glasses. Garnish with fresh sage leaves and cranberries and an apple slice.
Enjoy!
