Hinterland Growers is non-certified organic, currently transitioning to certified organic. Their mixed vegetable production is designed and operated under a bio-intensive market-garden model. They follow organic, natural and sustainable growing practices, including providing habitats for pollinators, crop rotation and use of cover crops for green manure.
Situated on 10 acres, near Port Perry, Hinterland Growers is a small-scale, sustainable farm founded by Jon and Lauralee Loback. The farm was established in 2016, with the desire to offer high quality, flavourful and nutritious vegetables, grown without chemicals, at affordable prices to our local community. This goal is achieved using a ecological, polyculture farming model and their core values: traceability, wholesomeness and, integrity and transparency. Hinerland grows using specially selected hand tools and machinery and minimum tillage practices combined with systematic planting and weed and pest management. All of their produce is hand picked and carefully processed and inspected to ensure that it is of the highest quality and optimal freshness.
