Range of Artisanal Cheeses
Year Round
Monforte Dairy products are made with milk from local small scale Mennonite farms.
Monforte Dairy originally opened in Millbank, Ontario, 12 years ago by owner and operator, Ruth Klahsen. It is now located in Stratford, Ontario. Ruth has had a longstanding culinary career, graduating in the first class of the Stratford Chef School in the 1980s. Ruth has worked in many fantastic restaurants in Stratford over the years, as well as spent time staging abroad in winter.
Over time, Ruth’s love of cheese evolved from a side project into starting her own dairy, and her extraordinary passion for cheese making continues to shine through in all their amazing cheeses. Originally, Monforte sourced milk from small Mennonite and Amish sheep farms, but over time and as the dairy industry shifted, they have expanded to also produce cheese from goat, water buffalo and cow’s milk.

Monforte's Halloumi is currently being made with Water Buffalo Milk and Sheep's Milk. This cheese comes to life when grilled, bringing out flavour and salt. Best used with salads and sandwiches, Monforte's halloumi is made to pan sear to a golden brown. It’s even better marinated!
From Monforte Dairy - Southwestern Ontario's premier artisanal cheese company.
At Monforte Dairy, they believe that the small things really do make a difference. They believe that agriculture is best practiced on a human scale, and that their cheeses, each in its own way, reflect something a little deeper than the technology behind mass manufactured food - a little of the poetry and passion of life itself!
